✅ Context-Aware MCP Implementation - COMPLETE

What Was Implemented

The MCP server now supports project-specific connection context. Instead of always using the install path's default connection files, you can now pass the path to any project's directory, and the CLI will use that project's connection configuration.


Files Created

1. mcp-server/src/connection-context.ts

Purpose: Interface definition for connection context

Contents:

Changes Made:

  1. Added Import:

  3. Added Environment Setup:

    • Builds environment object from context
    • Sets HANA_CLI_PROJECT_PATH if context provided
    • Sets HANA_CLI_CONN_FILE if context provided
    • Sets HANA_CLI_HOST, HANA_CLI_PORT, HANA_CLI_USER, HANA_CLI_PASSWORD, HANA_CLI_DATABASE for direct connections
  4. Updated spawn() Call:

    • Changed cwd from hardcoded install path to context.projectPath if provided
    • Passes environment with context variables

2. mcp-server/src/index.ts

Changes Made:

  1. Added Import:

    • Added __projectContext property to ALL command tool schemas
    • Properties include: projectPath, connectionFile, host, port, user, password, database
    • All are optional, backward compatible

TypeScript Compilation: SUCCESSFUL

All files compiled without errors:

Example 1: Using Project's .env File

Breaking Changes

NONE!

This implementation is 100% backward compatible:

  • Existing tools work unchanged
  • __projectContext is optional
  • Default behavior preserved when no context provided
  • No modifications to CLI command structure

What Changed at a Glance

The MCP server is now context-aware and can work with project-specific databases. AI Agents can specify which project context to use, ensuring they connect to the correct database for their work.
